Veraval Gate, Prabhas Patan: The Historic Gateway of the Ancient Fortification and a Heritage of Medieval Architecture
Overview
Serving as the primary western entrance into the historic town of the Somnath pilgrimage center (Prabhas Patan) is the Veraval Gate. In ancient times, a protective fortification (fort wall) was built around the town of Prabhas Patan, and among its main gates, this gate is situated on the route coming from Veraval city, hence known as the 'Veraval Gate'. It stands as an exquisite example of medieval princely protective architecture.

- Town Defense Fortification: Strong stone walls and gates were constructed around the town to provide security against foreign invasions targeting the Somnath Temple and Prabhas town.

सोमनाथ तीर्थधाम (प्रभास पाटन) के ऐतिहासिक नगर में प्रवेश के लिए मुख्य पश्चिमी प्रवेश द्वार यानी वेरावल गेट (Veraval Gate) है. प्राचीन काल में प्रभास पाटन नगर के चारों ओर सुरक्षात्मक किलेबंदी (कोट) बनाई गई थी, जिसके मुख्य दरवाजों में से यह गेट वेरावल शहर की ओर से आने वाले मार्ग पर स्थित होने के कारण 'वेरावल दरवाजा' के रूप में जाना जाता है. यह मध्यकालीन रियासत की सुरक्षात्मक वास्तुकला का एक उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है.

સોમનાથ યાત્રાધામ (પ્રભાસ પાટણ)ના ઐતિહાસિક નગરમાં પ્રવેશ માટેનું મુખ્ય પશ્ચિમી પ્રવેશદ્વાર એટલે વેરાવળ ગેટ (Veraval Gate). પ્રભાસ પાટણ નગરની ફરતે પ્રાચીન સમયમાં રક્ષણાત્મક કિલ્લેબંધી (કોટ) બનાવવામાં આવી હતી, જેના મુખ્ય દરવાજાઓ પૈકી આ ગેટ વેરાવળ શહેર તરફથી આવતા માર્ગ પર સ્થિત હોવાથી 'વેરાવળ દરવાજો' તરીકે ઓળખાય છે. તે મધ્યકાલીન રજવાડાના રક્ષણાત્મક સ્થાપત્યનું ઉત્કૃષ્ટ ઉદાહરણ છે.
