Shri Prachi Tirth, Saurashtra: A Supreme Sacred Scriptural Abode for Ancestral Tarpan, Pind Daan, and Attainment of Moksha Overview Located approximately 25 kilometers from Somnath on the banks of the sacred Saraswati River, Shri Prachi Tirth is considered the ultimate pilgrimage site for ancestral rites and moksha-sadhana for Hindu devotees across India. It is stated in the scriptures: "So Gayasi, Ek Prachi"—meaning the profound spiritual merit obtained by performing Pind Daan multiple times at Kashi and Gaya is attained simply by performing Shradh or Tarpan once at Prachi Tirth. 1. Mythological Significance and Importance East-Flowing Saraswati: Normally, the Saraswati River flows westward, but at Prachi Tirth, it flows eastward (the Prachi direction), which is why this place earned the name 'Prachi'. Key Temples and Features Shri Madhavrayji Temple: An extremely ancient and magnificent temple of Lord Vishnu is situated at Prachi Tirth. Prachi Ghat and Kund: Large stone steps have been constructed along the banks of the Saraswati River for pilgrims to bathe, worship, and perform Tarpan. Ancient Shiva Temples: Numerous ancient Shivalingas and shrines established by sages are located around the ghat.   3. Authentic Sources Skanda Purana (Prabhas Khand - Prachi Mahatmya): Describes the inexhaustible merit of bathing in the east-flowing Saraswati and performing Pind Daan in the Prachi region. Srimad Bhagavata Mahapurana: Mentions the Prachi region and the Saraswati River during the pilgrimage of the Prabhas tirtha. Mahabharata (Tirthayatra Parva): Details the sacred bathing and donation traditions practiced by the Pandavas and Yadavas.   Visitor Guide Location: Prachi Village, Taluka Sutrapada, Gir Somnath District, Gujarat (approx. 25 km from Somnath). Major Rituals: Ancestral Tarpan, Pind Daan, Ashthi Visarjan, Shradh Karma, and Narayan Bali. Special Festivals: Heavy crowds of devotees gather during Shravan month, Bhadarvi Amas, Pitru Paksha (Shradh Paksha), and Somvati Amas. Entry: Free Entry.

(Free Entry).
