Jyotirmarg (Baan Stambh / Arrow Pillar)

To the south of the Somnath Temple, on the seashore, a strong stone boundary wall has been built. The pillar located there features a globe of the Earth and an arrow mark. It indicates that from the exact location of the Somnath **Shivalinga** all the way down to the South Pole, there is a completely unobstructed path of light, known as the *Jyotirmarg*. In this straight line crossing *Ratnakar* (the Arabian Sea), the Indian Ocean, and the Southern Ocean, there is no piece of land anywhere in between; there is only water. This gives the place a highly unique geographical importance. 🛕 Vallabhghat It was at this very spot that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel took seawater in his hands and made a solemn vow (*Pratigya*) for the reconstruction of the new Somnath Temple. In his memory, this **Ghat** (seafront steps) has been officially named **Vallabhghat**. Having **Darshan** of the sunset from here is an absolute joy and privilege. This location serves as a magnificent sunset point for all visitors.
